Reeth in Swaledale

Yorkshire Dales National Park, Yorkshire, England.

Once at the centre of Swaledale's extensive lead mining industry, the beautiful village of Reeth was a very busy place. Granted a market charter in 1695 there is still a market held in the village on Fridays and is a focal point for the local hill farming community.

The lead mining has long since ceased and the population has declined but today it is popular with tourists who can explore the local area or the adjoining Arkengarthdale.
The village green is surrounded by cottages an houses and there are many hotels, guest houses, cafes and gift shops.
